What is La Loire à vélo?

Description: La Loire à Vélo is a vast 800km long cycle route from Cuffy (nearby Nevers) to Saint-Brevin-les-Pins (opposite Saint-Nazaire). It makes up the western section of Eurovelo 6, the major trans-European cycle route (from Saint Brévin-les-Pins, France to Basel, Switzerland).

The route was developed in 1995 by some fifteen partners.

Whether you choose to "descend" the cycle route following the direction of the Loire, or work back upstream to its source, the largely flat route is easily accessible to all, with no more than 190 meters of elevation across 700km.

This notably safe route is fully signposted, and with the minimum of difficulty.

This cycle route carries you along an exceptional natural and cultural environment, a protected UNESCO World Heritage Site, and features as a "living cultural landscape".

You will pass through many regions with beautiful landscapes. Cross the Loire Valley and take the opportunity to discover the world famous châteaux of the Loire. In Anjou and Pays de la Loire, admire the flora and fauna of the Loire-Anjou-Touraine Regional Nature Park and the Atlantic coast.

La Loire à Vélo is an invitation to discover nature, architectural heritage, traditions as well as outstanding gastronomy and wine. She's waiting for you!
